Cloud computing 'delivers remarkable savings'

Companies wanting to save money in the current economic climate are being urged to adopt things such as project management software and customer relationship management to save on costs.

According to Indian national newspaper the Hindu, the "relatively new" model of software-as-a-service (SaaS) allows a business to continue making money without having to install or regularly buy software and updates, while also making the programs available to people from any computer.

It explained that retail outlets in particular stand to gain a lot from the adoption of business management software, adding that such things as customer trends, inventory management and sales patterns can be easily gained.

The newspaper added: "New technologies such as SaaS help small firms save money by having a 'host' somewhere in cyberspace rather than being present in the physical firm.

"The inherent ability of SaaS to reduce price points to fractions is what is working to its advantage."

Earlier this month, Brand Republic reported that Bluewater shopping centre is offering its customer relationship management contract to the company which can best suit its needs and help it deliver effective communications to consumers.
