Competitive advantage 'begins with SaaS'
Competitive advantage can be delivered through the use of software-as-a-service (SaaS) and associated business management software, according to an expert in computing.
Richard Firth, the chief executive officer of MIP Holdings in South Africa, explained to ITWeb that many businesses will question what will happen to their competitive advantage once the likes of project management software and resource scheduling software are installed.
However, Mr Firth asserts that the question to respond to such a claim is "what competitive advantage?" as there is no issue of it before such a system is installed, should the organisation be adopting the practices of everyone else in their sector.
He claimed that through the use of business management software, a company is able to customise their systems in order to allow for a more personal approach to set themselves apart from competitors, creating the advantage through the very nature of the systems.
Yesterday, Leon Benjamin, an expert in social software and guru formerly associated with Microsoft, BT and the UK government, revealed that many businesses are underestimating the value of their customerrs and as such may be missing out on competitive advantages gained through such things as SaaS initiatives.
