Modest growth of broadband recorded, says Gartner

The use of UK broadband continues to grow across the country, highlighting the possible uptake of small business management software along the way.

According to statistics gathered by global consultancy Gartner, Britain is defying the current economic climate in the digital world, with the country coming 11th in a recent league table in terms of the market penetration of broadband.

This was concluded after it was discovered that growth of faster internet connections - which are capable of running the likes of time billing software and resource scheduling software with ease - will be 63 per cent by the end of the year.

Despite that, the UK still lags behind a number of other countries, notably South Korea (86 per cent), the Netherlands (80 per cent) and Denmark (75 per cent), though still jumping ahead of the US, which has fallen away in the last year.

South Korea led the table of the most advanced nation when it came to the future capabilities of its broadband connections as well, according to a poll released this week by Cisco.
