UK broadband is 'not fit for future demands'

The UK has struggled in a recent poll of broadband networks across the world.

In a recent study commissioned by Cisco, it was discovered that the internet infrastructure of the country polled in 25th place, down by ten places on last year, putting it behind nations including Latvia, Taiwan and Romania.

It was explained by the company that high-speed connections available in the UK are only capable of supporting today's applications, including project management software and online timesheets, yet is not geared up for a more technologically-advanced future.

Broadband quality scores were taken from each nation, which measured download speeds, upload speeds and latency.

The leaders, perhaps unsurprisingly, are the Far East nations of South Korea and Japan; two countries known for a remarkable amount of technological investment.

According to a recent study by uSwitch, it was discovered that the average user of UK broadband will spend around 30 hours a week using the service.
