Gartner: Technology sector bottoming out

The world of business management software may be in for a reawakening if the latest trends analysed by Gartner are taken onboard.

That's because the organisation believes the technology market will only rise following months of falls due to the current economic climate.

Managing vice-president at Gartner's semiconductor manufacturing group Klaus Rinnen explained: "Almost all sectors of the electronic equipment market have now hit bottom and await signs of 'first growth' in comparison with the same quarter last year"

He noted that the first signs of growth will be seen when the seasonal buying patterns of PCs, which are expected to register growth in 2010, come through, though it is still not as straightforward as some optimists may think.

This is due to fact that the damage from the current industry recession will be "felt for a long time", according to Mr Rinnen, and a fall in confidence may continue to shake up the industry despite it hitting its bottom and spelling a more joyous future for business management software.

Today, Gartner announced that an upgrade to Windows 7 is a "must" for all businesses, including those using the likes of project management software.
