Online timesheets 'needed for good project management'

Companies which have invested in project management software in recent months may want to consider buying online timesheets or time billing software, according to one expert.

Jason Westland, the chief executive officer of Method123, explained that recording and monitoring time taken during key tasks is a hugely "essential element" of a co-ordinator's job.

He explained: "It not only helps project managers to track what's going on and to ensure tasks are finished on time but also provides a great tool for comparing resource cost versus time spent for reporting purposes."

Mr Westland added that with them, a project manager can "easily identify" the tasks that have been done, when they were carried out and how long they took to do, allowing project plan deadlines to be taken into full account.

Economic accuracy is also paramount in such situations, it was added, particularly given the current financial climate.

Flexible working, which is supported by the government and the Conservative opposition in the UK, may also be aided through the adoption of timesheets, it has often been said.
