Hosted software is 'great' for home working

Companies embracing flexible working initiatives or wanting to downsize their rent costs ought to truly consider the importance of business management software, it is stated.

Chief operating officer of IT services from ThinkGrid David Pratt asserted that cloud computing is truly able to change how a business operates on a level best seen by remote workers, who can access the programs from anywhere with an internet connection.

He continued: "With applications and data stored in the cloud, management burdens are reduced because hardware and software failures are reduced to such an extent that only if a device completely fails and loses connection to the internet will it matter."

Mr Pratt added that in the event of total device failure, companies using hosted project management software or online timesheets can harness any other internet-enabled device and carry on working.

According to a Forrester Research report last week, enterprise mobile workers will make up 73 per cent of the workforce by 2012, highlighting the need for virtualised employment environments.
