Google to highlight importance of hosted software
A major player in the world of internet services is on a major push to promote cloud-based services, underlining the popularity of such things as project management software and resource scheduling software.
The new Gone Google campaign is to highlight how businesses can turn away from traditional software often supplied for in-house servers by companies such as Microsoft and IBM and turn to other options provided by those adept in the cloud.
Google itself provides a limited number of applications that are targeted at email and calendar services, which it has made free to organisations with 50 employers or fewer.
However, its campaign continues to show how popular hosted services are and how much money they can save companies, particularly those which want to respond to greater costs by creating an online environment or liaising with an organisation to create tailored software.
Google has recently started offering free Wi-Fi access to people flying on Virgin Atlantic planes.
