SaaS is 'more popular security delivery option'

Security delivery via software-as-a-service (SaaS) is underlining how good the method is of delivering business management software to the office, according to a new survey.

Websense discovered that 82 per cent of 92 security experts felt pressured into delivering cost-cutting measures in their department, yet only 34 per cent saw SaaS as a good way of delivering this.

Jonathan Wilkinson, the messaging security manager at Websense, explained that the organisation's research shows that a number of individuals still do not understand the true savings and security levels which are provided by today's SaaS solutions.

"Yet, everyday more IT professionals are learning the true benefits of SaaS solutions, and the majority of professionals are willing to consider using SaaS security in the future."

It follows the assertion from Gartner, one of the world's leading IT research firms, that hosted IT services will become one of the top ten strategic technologies across the world in 2010.
