Outsourcing can lead to 'six major mistakes'
Businesses looking to outsource their software will do well to avoid six key errors which can potentially drag a company down, it is said.
According to Mark Kobayashi-Hillary of Computing's Talking Outsourcing blog, many businesses can stumble blindly into the same problems, such as underestimating the cost and complexity of managing a relationship with a vendor.
Furthermore, many businesses can overestimate savings made with small business management software, while thirdly, many companies have already selected their partner before defining their objectives.
Failing to inform employees of outsourcing planning as to what a business is doing when a plan is put into action is the fourth major mistake, while selecting one provider to do everything and putting retention plans in place for talented people make up Mr Kobayashi-Hillary's list.
This week, vice-president of research and development at Ipswitch Jonathan Lampe said that it is more likely that companies will invest in virtualised software than legacy programs.
