SaaS 'provides too many options to be ignored'

The service management market is evolving and maturing as companies are hoping to use best practice and automate operational processes through small business management software, it is said.

Jamal Labed, chief operating officer at Staff&Line, explained that it was not simply a matter of renting versus buying software; it is more in the fact that customers want to outsource their entire administration of the tool because this will allow them to focus on "core competencies".

He continued: "We see huge changes afoot and a real revolution as the barriers between software and services come down and more of our customers demand software-as-a-service [SaaS].

"As the market matures, so customers understand that they need something different from their software providers."

Mr Labed added that there will be interesting times ahead, and that at the top of his agenda is making IT management as easy as possible.

This week, SaaS dealers were warned by Chris Holland of SafeNet that by not communicating the software licence benefits or rules to buyers, they may be causing many people to stay away from the beneficial option.
