CRM 'removes donkeywork' from administration

Customer relationship management (CRM) and associated business management software is a great way to enhance the abilities of a company in the marketplace, it is believed.

Rob Widdicombe, the managing director of Canonbury Services, believes more companies are realising that they must keep in touch with clients and this must pair best practice to consumer expectations, especially given that the days of being able to do that "on the back of an envelope are long past".

And while automation can go too far, the specialist explained that a degree of the practice, especially in regards to customer relationship management, is a no-brainer as the sensitive approach can really impress consumers.

"It makes people's lives easier," Mr Widdicombe continued. "It allows you to standardise processes. It allows the system to take care of some things, to take care of the donkeywork of life. You can take some of the repetitive stuff out of people's day."

According to Gartner earlier this week, the CRM market is a major driver of growth in the business management software sector, with revenue of $2.3 billion (£1.37 billion) in 2009.
