SaaS tips offered in ten-point plan

A company has announced the release of its updated guidelines for the adoption of small business management software in the current economic climate.

Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) released its "Bessemer's Top 10 Laws of Cloud Computing and SaaS", with the material available in its entirety on BVP's website.

Co-authors Byron Deeter and Philippe Botteri have been slated to present the material at Salesforce.com's Dreamforce conference next week, which aims to highlight how the likes of resource scheduling software and time billing software via hosted means could help a firm.

Some of the rules included the "less is more" approach, with the writers emphasising the need to "leverage the cloud everywhere you practically can".

It was added that the most important part of software-as-a-service (SaaS) is the service aspect, while leveraging and monetising the data asset is also important as "the data hosted by a SaaS provider can become a valuable asset if harnessed appropriately".

A recent survey carried out by Proofpoint discovered that many people are put off by money-saving initiatives from business management software because they find it quite intimidating.
