2010 IT landscape will 'prove mettle of SaaS'
Nick Garlick, the managing director of the Nebulas Solutions Group, said that while there is a lot of hype surrounding software-as-a-service (SaaS), it is still a relatively "immature technology".
Despite this, 2010 will see the sector growing dramatically and organisations will be driven towards using cloud computing, though not many will move to the public cloud model completely as many view it as one with major security issues.
Mr Garlick continued: "The hybrid cloud will dominate in 2010 - non-critical apps will go to the public cloud for cost and efficiency reasons but most organisations will still keep their critical business apps in-house.
"The challenge for 2010 will be seamlessly and securely integrating the two activities."
Mr Garlick's comments follow predictions from Gartner, which believes that cloud computing will be one of its top ten strategic technologies for 2010.
