Recession recovery 'needs government intervention' in private sector
While employers are committed to making the quality of jobs in the UK much better, many lack guidance on how they can achieve it, according to a new report published by the Work Foundation.
The report underlined how more employers see the once-conflicting factors of decent quality jobs and commercial/organisational success as "mutually supporting goals", though many cannot achieve improved morale, teamwork, effective management and staff development.
Flexible working was an initiative which was cited as a key motivator by many of the respondents, highlighting how small business management software could play a part in this recovery.
Stephen Bevan, the managing director of the Work Foundation, said it is now up to the government to do more.
He continued: "We need one centralised body with a clear identity and a clear remit to work in partnership with employers to crack many of the UK's persistent job quality problems."
The Work Foundation was constitutionally established by a Royal Charter which was awarded in 1984 and is the UK's leading independent authority on work and its future.
