SaaS will 'integrate more with legacy software'

Businesses across the world wanting to use the likes of project management software and resource scheduling software will see growth in the services due to a different approach in 2010.

David Linthicum told the Intelligent Enterprise Blog that he believes the industry will see better integration of software-as-a-service (SaaS) with on-premise systems, driving much of the movement to the technology provided next year.

He said that a major issue with SaaS is how businesses sync data stored within SaaS providers' on-premise systems, adding: "While this has been a focus of most data integration players, the solutions have not clicked with most of those moving to SaaS, and many are far too convoluted and expensive."

Mr Linthicum is of the firm belief that the value of business management software will be better understood and the prices will fall as both speed-to-deployment and efficiency increase.

Earlier this month, Martino Corbelli, the marketing director at Star, said that fears surrounding cloud computing are unfounded and often stem from being uninformed.
