Cloud sceptics 'unfairly pick on security' of SaaS
The position of the cloud sceptic has always been underpinned by supposed data security problems ever since software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions were introduced, according to a blog.
However, these have "no grounds for reality", said Mary Kay Roberto in the E-Commerce Times, noting that horror stories involving cross-contamination of data or sensitive information breaches have "made the rounds" but are not correct.
She asserted that providers of business management software can build security and resilience into solutions from the very beginning and can provide "massively more security and resilience to their customers than would ever be possible with an on-premise solution".
As a result, Ms Roberto believed that encryption and data loss prevention capabilities are simply foundations for an altogether impressive option for organisations.
However, David Linthicum of the Intelligent Enterprise Blog warned against complacency, as everything is built by humans - in the future, people should expect to see a couple of examples of data leaks from the industry, though this should not dissuade anyone, he added.
