SaaS is a 'very promising market'

Businesses will no doubt be swept off their feet by the assets which software-as-a-service (SaaS) could provide them, with one magazine branding the technology "the most promising development in the IT world in recent times".

According to mydigitalfc.com, it is a particularly interesting basis for growth and money-saving, yet businesses which fail to plan their adoption of business management software could make their embrace with the offerings "detrimental".

Ajay Verma, the director of sales, channels and alliances at Symantec India, explained that cloud and SaaS systems are not the solution to all IT ills and can often cost people more if they are unclear as to what is in-house and what will be virtualised.

Despite this, Sreenidhi Sharma, chief executive officer of CSS, believes the option is still a great one as it hugely reduces capital expenditure.

He continued: "Maintenance and scaling up are on-demand and hence easier. This helps in the present conditions when managing costs and optimising operational expenditure are among the top priorities of companies."

Last week, Michael Dean of the National Computing Centre revealed that when adopting resource scheduling software, as much planning as possible should be done in order to ensure that usual pratfalls are not fallen into, costing more money along the way.
