Only half of SMEs 'use CRM'

Only half of small and medium-sized businesses in the UK are currently using customer relationship management (CRM), according to a new report.

In a survey carried out on behalf of Star, it was discovered that 46 per cent of organisations have not decided to adopt the small business management software option, with a variety of reasons to blame.

Difficulties and creators of negative perceptions included the ease of deployment, the inability to enlist user support and the difficulty in getting it integrated with existing systems.

Marketing director at Star Martino Corbelli explained that it is all about realising that the speed of deployment is unrivalled and that CRM should, or at least can, be combined with existing software to make it easy to pick up.

He added: "This is the holy grail in unlocking the full potential of CRM and overcoming users' resistance, as they'll be able to enjoy all of the benefits of CRM without needing to change the way they operate."

Earlier in the month, Mr Corbelli explained that many organisations are irrationally afraid of cloud computing applications such as resource scheduling software, though this is usually borne from being uninformed.
