Businesses will 'naturally turn to business management software'
A recent report by Gartner has showed how businesses view IT as key to helping themselves emerge from the recession.
It was discovered that 62 per cent of chief executive officers put stock or faith in IT-enabled changes, such as the adoption of business management software, as a major facet of their post-recession strategy
Jim Elkin, a consultant at Analysys Mason, said infrastructures must be reviewed with a view to creating environmentally-sustainable ones, as the focus will be on businesses to ensure that operations are more carbon-friendly and "less power-hungry".
He continued: "As it happens, such approaches also provide a driver for businesses to invest in technologies that require less revenue to operate.
"Therefore, any power hungry data centres should be assessed, and, where necessary, optimised via the use of virtualisation technologies."
Mr Elkin added that organisations must assess current storage, archiving and retrieval systems in light of possible plans to allow the strategic implementation of new storage technologies in their business.
