Business management software users 'should be aware of Christmas lights'

A broadband service provider has highlighted a reason why many companies may struggle to access the internet and, by extension, many business management software applications.

According to senior manager at Talk Talk Sylvian Thevenot, speaking on the company blog, Christmas lights can be to blame for a lot of interference with wireless lines.

He continued: "Our past experience has shown that in-home lighting and wiring, such as Christmas tree lights, can interfere with wireless signals and reduce broadband speeds - regardless of internet service provider - by up to 25 per cent."

He added that Talk Talk estimates that this issue could affect thousands of broadband users during the Christmas weeks.

This is because interference from domestic lighting and wiring has always been a huge problem across the sector, with time of year being the most likely to aggravate it.

Users of project management software and time billing were given a boost this month after BT revealed its intentions to roll out super-fast broadband across ten million homes by the time of the 2012 Olympics.
