Without SaaS, data management will be 'impossible'
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) may be an investment that many people are questioning at the moment, though it will be less of a choice and more of a necessity in terms of data management in the near future, it is believed.
Mike Vizard, a blogger for ITBusinessEdge.com, explained that the constantly shifting nature of technology means that the market is becoming unpredictable, though certain things can be counted on.
He argued that the amount of influence that business users have over SaaS procurement means that a lot of IT departments do not have the "political clout" to enforce a strategy for the likes of business management software.
"Yet without a strategy, most IT organisations will be dealing with an untenable amount of data silos by the end of 2010 that will ultimately prove to be ungovernable," Mr Vizard added.
Technology is central to recovery for a number of firms in the UK this summer, according to an interview with Mark Raskino, a research vice-president with Gartner, in an interview with silicon.com this week.
