SaaS providers must 'promote trust in their working relationships'
A number of organisations are looking to take business management software on board, yet not a lot of them find it easy to trust who they are purchasing it from, according to one expert.
Michael Vizard of IT Business Edge made his comments in response to a recent survey by RainStor, which discovered that no less than 85 per cent of organisations using software-as-a-service (SaaS) keep hold of a spare copy of their data just in case.
He said that it is an example of the same "prudent practices" of businesses using SaaS that are filtering through to new technologies, though it was not seen like this by the authors of the report.
Andy Ben-Dyke, the chief technology officer at RainStor, said it was an issue of best practice as all firms want to retain a copy of important data within their business applications, with SaaS being no different to anything else.
He added: "Typically it's either as a best practice fail-safe, to protect data and meet compliance requirements or to run advanced analytics without impacting the production environment."
