Recession is 'forcing businesses to turn to SaaS'
The recession is taking its toll on the world of corporate IT, making many companies turn to business management software, according to a specialist in the market.
TMCnet detailed how Viviana Padilla of Salesforce noted that her company was seeing how many firms are taking a step back to evaluate their current systems, with many enrolling with hosted IT services such as theirs.
Ms Padilla predicted that 2010 will be the year of transition for a large number of companies to replace expenses brought about by enterprise software and migrating it into built-in innovations such as those brought by cloud computing.
Other commentators speaking to TMCnet noted that many were using the software to aid with cutting personnel costs, such as in call centres or other consumer-facing jobs.
According to a survey last year by Star, only half of small and medium-sized businesses in the UK are using CRM, with marketing director Martino Corbelli criticising those not using it for overlooking the genuine benefits it can bring.
