Cloud computing will see 'maturity' in 2010
It is generally concluded that 2010 will be a huge year for the building-up and growing maturity of business management software delivery and consumption, according to a new report.
IDC, in partnership with Apache, revealed its predictions for the industry over the coming months, stating that software-as-a-service (SaaS) will have to match the "more demanding security, availability and manageability requirements of traditional IT".
It notably addressed how hybrid solutions will boom this year, allowing IT customers to have access to software which can "more cohesively and dynamically" manage IT assets across internal servers as well as private clouds and appliances such as public clouds.
The company also claimed that the ongoing battles between Microsoft and IBM, particularly in challenging today's "dominant player" Google Apps, will spur the industry on as a whole to improve overall performance.
This week, Kim Mays of IT Business Edge concluded that businesses wanting to cut down on software licence costs will likely turn to SaaS, as all such tariffs are already part of the payment.
