Snow is 'great argument for SaaS'

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) is needed in times such as those of bad weather, according to an industry expert.

Piers Linney, the joint chief executive officer of Outsourcery, explained that this week's weather is enough to swing the argument in favour of business management software.

He asserted that the disruption caused by the recent snow has created immense problems for thousands of small businesses across the UK as employees have not been able to make face-to-face meetings.

Mr Linney continued: "With large numbers of workers having to work away from the office in the harsh weather conditions, businesses are finding that they need more effective ways to stay in touch with their colleagues and clients."

However, Outsourcery was fine and proved the importance of business management software, shutting down offices in Bury, Leicester and London due to bad weather but maintaining operations as staff worked from home "as part of a seamless interface".

Earlier in the week, Telehouse said that the use of data centres is set to rise as a result of the adoption of SaaS and cloud computing in 2010.
