Cloud outages are 'bound to happen'

The situation involving cloud computing servers going down - causing the temporary loss of business management software applications such as online time billing - has been addressed in a new report.

According to the coverage on PublicTechnology.net, the headline-making downtime suffered by Salesforce.com came as people returned back from Christmas, leading to an outage for over an hour on January 4th.

This incident, it was argued, has demonstrated the possible vulnerabilities of relying on a single provider when it comes to IT support, services and business management software, though it is far from being a one-sided argument, it continued.

That's because the news provider highlighted how proponents and successful users of the cloud model continue to accentuate how most organisations are just as susceptible to downtime, if not more susceptible, than those embracing hosted solutions.

The use of data centres is set to rocket as a result of the adoption of software-as-a-service and cloud computing, according to a new report from Telehouse.
