Business management software to boom in Herts?

Herefordshire Council has set out plans to build up the county's infrastructure for next generation broadband, according to a new report.

IT Pro revealed that a new core strategy document, Shaping our Place 2026, shows that the council has underlined a 16-year progressive plan to establish high-speed broadband following a successful pilot scheme in the Kingstone parish area.

Around 100 residents used the wireless broadband service, which saw local church steeples being turned into antenna bases.

Herts has been left out in the cold following the announcement from BT that it would not be included in its plans to bring high-speed broadband to the area, though those using business management software in the region will likely be boosted by the news.

Speaking to the publication, a spokesperson from the council said: "One of the issues with Herefordshire is it is very rural and sparsely populated.

"We hope with these new plans and an increased culture of working from home, it will tempt some of the big boys to do more in the [county]."

This week, BT announced the launch of its super-fast next-generation broadband service, which is undercutting Virgin Media's prices and starting a war of words between the companies.
