Gartner claims about cloud computing played down by expert

A man has drawn a line in the sand between his own beliefs surrounding small business management software and those concluded by Gartner.

Scott Cleveland of ebizQ, who has over 25 years of experience in marketing management, responded to the global market research firm's claims that cloud computing will become so pervasive that by 2012, around one in five businesses will own no IT assets at all.

He explained: "I don't believe that companies will create an IT strategy that is 100 per cent cloud or the opposite. I believe that there will be a mixed strategy that includes both."

Mr Cleveland asserted that some might choose Google to provide email or get enterprise resource scheduling software which can be hosted within the organisation, concluding that he simply does not see 20 per cent of companies drawing up and executing a plan by 2012.

Steve Reynolds of the Mobile Data Association recently explained that his industry is perfect for business management software as it can bring a huge flexibility of scale as it is cost-based on usage and not a basic leased model deal.
