Virtualisation 'does not make management easier or harder'

Virtualisation does not make management easier or harder, according to an expert in the world of software-as-a-service (SaaS).

The Register's Virtualisation Lab explained that virtualisation does not necessarily make things easier due to the fact that any extra management capacity made available through any server consolidation will likely be taken up by the latter proliferation of virtual machines.

Sadly for many companies, managers in this situation have more problems addressing the virtual environment when compared to the previous legacy system, essentially meaning that preparation could be easier while many unprepared individuals will likely slow everything down for a business.

The Virtualisation Lab added that the operational administration of virtual systems will need management processes to be refined, while new management tools will need to back it up.

Earlier in the week, Rob Lovell, the chief executive officer at ThinkGrid, said that when larger companies like Google and Microsoft push that idea of the cloud, it "really helps accelerate the industry".
