SaaS could 'help small businesses survive in UK'
Figures from the Insolvency Service report show a rise in personal insolvencies, highlighting a trend which needs to be addressed in the UK through clever technology, according to Outsourcery.
The firm noted that while the number of company liquidations fell 1.1 per cent in 12 months to 4,566, personal insolvencies rose by nearly a quarter to 35,574, showing that businesses ought to use clever technology to oppose the "gloomy" economic outlook.
Piers Linney, the joint chief executive officer at Outsourcery, said that the somewhat tough pressure on start-up businesses and small companies remains in the UK and the latest figures from the Insolvency Service support this.
He continued: "Technology such as cloud computing is providing help to many by doing away with thousands of pounds of costly IT investment in favour of pay-as-you go IT delivered over the cloud for as little as £6 a month, enabling many SMEs to continue trading in these tough times."
Of the 35,574 individual insolvencies registered in 2009, 17,007 were bankruptcies, 13,219 were individual voluntary arrangements and 5,348 were debt relief orders.
