Flexibility is 'defining factor' of SaaS

More companies are embracing software-as-a-service (SaaS) as the return on investment which business management software provides can now be measured more easily, according to an expert in the trade.

Eric Berridge, the chief executive officer of Bluewolf and a pioneer of the new generation of professional services offered by hosted software organisations, spoke to ebizQ about why it is becoming so much more popular.

He explained that in the world of SaaS, businesses have the ability to roll out new processes and technologies to an improved rate when compared to the premise-based world.

Mr Berridge explained that additionally, organisations are finding that "the right SaaS solutions are extremely flexible, and you can iterate your business processes as an organisation so that you don't have to get all of your requirements identified perfectly upfront".

He concluded that the cost of getting it wrong in the world of SaaS is much lower than it is in the domain of old software.

Last week, leading general manager at Microsoft Craig Shank explained that business management software through cloud computing gives the user both control and flexibility.
