Cloud computing threats outlined in new report
A new report has highlighted the dangers of cloud computing when developing a strategy for the technology.
The top security threats of cloud computing were compiled by the Cloud Security Alliance and HP last week, concluding that the abuse and nefarious use of cloud computing was the worst overall issue while insecure interfaces was also a major problem.
Furthermore, malicious insiders, shared technology issues, data loss and leakage and account hijacking were all cause for concern.
Jim Reavis, founder of the Cloud Security Alliance, said: "Cloud services are clearly the next generation of information technology that enterprises must master.
"We have a shared responsibility to understand the security threats that accompany the cloud and apply the necessary best practices to mitigate them."
He added that the objective of the report was to identify threats which are most worrying to IT organisations, but to also help them understand how to protect themselves proactively.
The Cloud Security Alliance is a non-profit organisation which promotes the use of best practices for security assurance within cloud computing.
