Tories 'could lose rural vote'
New data from a popular research company has found that the Conservative Party stands to lose votes from rural constituencies as next-gen broadband internet plans from the Tories will mean they are the last to benefit from the upgrade.
Point Topic revealed that the 50p per month tax on landlines scheme pioneered by the Labour Party - which will be scrapped by the Tories - will be used in an attempt to bridge communication gaps that have sprung up across the country, though the Conservatives have offered no viable alternative for the rural community.
The company looked into 253 constituencies across Britain that require public money to get broadband, as companies including Virgin and BT are not likely to launch their services in said locations.
Point Topic chief analyst Tim Johnson said of the situation: "All the main parties agree that Britain needs superfast broadband. Where they differ is about how to deliver it to the rest of the country."
It follows the announcement that Virgin is to launch its 200MB internet connection at this month's Ideal Home Show in London, representing a major step forward for users of business management software.
