Demand for cloud computing 'altered hugely' over last few years
Cloud computing is being adopted by people across the UK for budget-led reasons, an expert has said.
Martino Corbelli, the marketing director at Star, explained that there has been a particular and protracted rise in demand from organisations looking to access applications that will allow them control over their budgets, such as time billing software.
He said: "The continuing difficult financial landscape has meant that businesses have been tasked to do more with less and IT departments are under additional scrutiny to demonstrate the value they provide to the business."
As a result, many are turning to cloud computing and communications infrastructures as they are able to deliver business services that are consumed as an ongoing utility, meaning people only pay for what they use.
Furthermore, Mr Corbelli noted that costs are on a monthly fixed fee, giving greater financial control and predictability to businesses of all sizes who still desire the most innovative technologies available, as well as at a much lower cost than in-house legacy software.
In a poll by Mimecast earlier this month, 70 per cent of IT decision makers who admitted to already using cloud computing said they were planning to move additional solutions to the facility.
