SaaS solutions like time billing software 'set for growth'

Server revenue for private cloud computing and software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions like time billing software is predicted to grow from $7.3 billion (£4.9 billion) to $11.8 billion (£7.9 billion) in the next four years, research has found.

The International Data Corporation (IDC) also predicts that the smaller public cloud computer market will grow to $718 million (£481 million) during this time.

Additionally, almost half of companies surveyed (44 per cent) are considering adopting private clouds for things like time billing software, the study revealed.

"Now is a great time for many IT organizations to begin seriously considering this technology and employing public and private clouds in order to simplify sprawling IT environments," commented Katherine Broderick, research analyst at IDC.

Earlier this month, the firm predicted that hard disk drive vendors for enterprise applications such as time tracking software will deliver more than 300,000 petabytes of storage capacity over the next five years.
