Online timesheet software 'makes business more flexible'

Using software-as-a-service (SaaS) for things like timesheet software can free up valuable time, money and manpower to make things easier for businesses in the recovery, according to a recent news article.

While software-as-a-service has traditionally been used by larger firms, more and more small businesses are realising the benefits of using cloud computing, USA Today reports.

One such example is that of Glen Smith, chief executive officer of Commercial Retrofitters & Recyclers, who last year moved his customer and banking records onto online systems - just before his office suffered a break-in and lost eight PCs.

"On Monday, we went out and bought new computers, plugged them in, and we were back up and running by noon," he told the news provider.

"We didn't have to re-create anything."

Meanwhile, Kansas-based aluminium equipment firm New Age Industrial was able to use online timesheet and expense management software to allow its employees to make expense reports while at a conference.

A recent report by Blue Coat Systems found that nearly one-third of respondents at a Las Vegas trade show had adopted five or more SaaS applications.
