Software-as-a-service 'is becoming the mainstream choice'

Cloud computing, which allows businesses to save time, cost and storage space by using things like timesheet management software, is becoming the mainstream choice for many companies.

According to a BBC News article, the benefits include cheap hosting, constant software updates and ease of scalability, as cloud computing solutions are designed to cope with sharp increases in workload.

Additionally, software-as-a-service solutions like timesheet management software are the ideal thing for start-up businesses, as they work "out of the box" without the need to spend time and effort setting them up.

Bryan Kinsella, chief information officer of Rentokil Initial, told the news provider that his company's decision to move to cloud computing was not about cost reduction, but rather about "unifying the business ... to operate and collaborate on a global basis".

According to recent figures from IDC, cloud computing sales are likely to reach as high as £8.5 billion by 2014.
