Flexible working 'advantageous' to businesses
There are many advantages for firms taking up flexible working practices among their staff, an expert has said.
Michelle Singleton, assistant policy officer for Unison, revealed there are many opportunities for businesses to take hold of when it comes to flexible workers.
"Organisations that have implemented the wider areas of flexible working policies, including having a portion of their staff working from home, all seem to be reaping the benefits of enabling those measures," she continued.
In some cases, businesses are reluctant to let their staff work from home because they are unsure of what they are actually doing, Ms Singleton claimed, although this can be aided by time tracking software.
Research by the Government Equalities Office shows around half (51 per cent) of working parents feel their relationship with their children would improve if they could work flexibly.
Around three in five (59 per cent) working parents think that flexible working would improve staff morale.
