Flexible working could help employers during World Cup
Flexible working arrangements could be the answer for some firms wondering how to prevent staff taking time off during the World Cup.
A number of big name companies have implemented temporary working arrangements, meaning their staff can enjoy the matches on pre-agreed terms.
Among them are McDonalds, Sainsbury's and Asda, it has emerged, although the firms have been advised not to discriminate against those who do not support England.
Some businesses may find time tracking software useful throughout the World Cup, as staff can be monitored to see if they are doing their designated jobs.
It has been revealed that 84 per cent of those working at McDonald's will be taking advantage of their employer's offer of flexible arrangements.
In recent days, the Federation of Small Businesses reminded firms to become acquainted with their legal obligations when arranging World Cup working patterns.
"Sorting out these issues before the first game kicks off means everyone can relax and enjoy the matches, while making sure jobs still get done in the workplace," said policy chairman Mike Cherry.
