Workers failing to take breaks, study shows

One in four employees is failing to take any breaks while at work, a new study has revealed.

Carried out by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the research discovered that many people find they have too much work to do, meaning they do not even break for lunch.

In a number of cases, it also became apparent that there were not enough staff within the company to be able to cope with the ever-increasing workloads.

Chief executive of the society Phil Gray commented: "Work is good for us and can contribute to physical and mental well-being, but not when overworking means people don't have the time or energy to look after their own health."

Employers may find they can overcome these problems by using time tracking software, as Mr Gray advised against allowing staff to work who are not fit to do so.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development recently highlighted that employers need to be prepared for a range of legislative changes to be implemented in the coming months.
