Network awareness 'is key to the cloud'

IT professionals who may be implementing software-as-a-service solutions, such as time billing software, have been advised that awareness of an organisation's network is among the most important considerations at the moment.

Paul Phillips, regional sales director for UK and Ireland at networking company Brocade, said cloud computing is a large focus area already, although businesses need to implement virtualisation and convergence first.

"It's been said many years ago that networks are getting bigger and bigger and the management of that is becoming increasingly more difficult," he went on to say.

"So management is a key element. It's about simplifying as much as possible."

Brocade recently revealed a unified network architecture strategy, allowing users to simplify the complex tax of virtualising their applications.

The chief executive of Hitachi Data Systems recently argued that virtualisation can be key to aiding companies when migrating data.
