Employee engagement 'can improve operations'

Consulting with staff on a regular basis is a great way of improving the efficiency of a business, an expert has said.

Angela Baron, an adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, highlighted that workers can often have great ideas for making operations faster.

"I know that there are a lot of public sector organisations which consult their staff extensively to look at ways of doing things better and more efficiently," she commented.

Employers may find time tracking software useful to determine where processes can be speeded up and where operations can be removed to make things smoother.

This follows the announcement from the government that the national minimum wage will be increased from October 1st.

From this date, a wage of 5.93 per hour will be given to low paid workers aged 21 and over, increased from £5.80, while 18 to 20-year-olds will be entitled to £4.92 per hour.
