Social media poses security risks, warn experts
There needs to be an increased awareness of the problems associated with social media, one expert has claimed.
David Bennett, director of consumer business development at Webroot software for Europe, Middle East and Africa, emphasised that too much sensitive information is being shared.
"As soon as someone logs into a social media site, it suddenly becomes a free for all and that people need to tell everyone everything," he expressed.
This could become a problem for companies, so using time tracking software could be one means of ensuring staff are doing what they are supposed to.
Mr Bennett highlighted that a lot of the information posted on websites is then at the mercy of hackers looking to take advantage of security lapses.
A recent Webroot survey found 39 per cent of mobile device users use location-tracking applications on their mobile devices.
Meanwhile, over half (55 per cent) worry over loss of privacy incurred from using geo location.
