Govt pledges to provide UK broadband boost
Broadband services need to be improved for businesses and the general public alike, the government has revealed.
In a move that may be welcomed by online timesheet users, secretary of state for culture, Olympics, media and sport Jeremy Hunt identified broadband as a core part of the UK's economic infrastructure.
He acknowledged that at present, services are simply not up to standard and will need to be improved if the UK is to stay ahead of the worldwide competition.
Some people are still socially excluded when it comes to using the internet, Mr Hunt said, which is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.
Mr Hunt emphasised that while on the campaign trail earlier in the year, he was faced with a number of people who informed him of their need to have better broadband.
This follows recent comments from Martha Lane Fox, who revealed that everyone of working age in the UK should be able to use the internet by 2015.
