Security software revenue expected to rise

Worldwide expenditure on security software will increase all over the world over the coming months, Gartner has predicted.

The figures, which may interest small business software users, also show that organisations are keen to give priority to their security budgets.

"Most segments of the security software market will continue to grow over the next few years, although a significant degree of variation is expected between the more-established and less-mature technologies," noted Ruggero Contu, principal research analyst at Gartner.

He added that this will remain one of the high-growth areas in the enterprise security market, with consumer security purchases also predicted to remain buoyant.

Other recent figures from the group showed that worldwide sales of mobile devices are also set to grow over the coming months and years.

Statistics revealed that worldwide mobile device sales to end users totalled 325.6 million units in the second quarter of 2010.
