Improving internet connections 'may leave some behind'

Broadband advancements may end up leaving some people such as online timesheet users behind, it has been identified.

Rowland O'Connor, editor of Broadband-Help.com, said that 2Mbps connections can help deliver more reliable services to users, but some may not be able to keep up.

"More sophisticated internet use such as reliable digital content streaming is not really feasible on 2Mbps," he explained.

The expert indicated that services even better than this may need to be implemented so the UK does not deprive itself of some of the best digital content.

More than eight out of ten PC Advisor readers believe broadband access is not good enough in the UK, a recent poll found.

Responding to a PC Advisor survey that asked whether they thought broadband access is good enough in this country, 81.3 per cent ticked no.

Based on 459 votes, just 13.3 per cent answered yes, while 5.4 per cent said they were not sure.
