New Project Templates and Resource Find and Replace

In a continual drive to ensure the project planning functionality in Atlantic Global OnDemand is quick and easy to use, this month we have added two key new features to the software.

 New Project Templates Functionality
In a drive to add discipline to the project planning process and to reduce the effort required to produce project plans, this month we have included the ability to create Project Templates in Atlantic Global OnDemand.  Project Templates enable users to define template project plans for an entire project, or for individual elements such a gates, milestones or phases.  This enables organisations with little project management experience to provide their project managers with basic project templates detailing the minimum set of tasks, gates or deliverables which must be achieved.  Users can then import these templates to add tasks, gates or milestones to existing plans.  If a user is creating or managing a critical path project, this makes the whole process of planning a project extremely simple.  For example, a users simply selects the project start date, imports the template, amends any required effort and then calculates the critical path.  This will automatically calculate the projects timeline for the end user saving them a lot of time and effort.

 Map Resources to Tasks
For many of our users, when it comes to resourcing a project plan they knwo exactly what resource they are going to assign for the duration of the project to specific roles, for example the Project Manager.  Based on this feedback we have found that for smaller organisations their is no need to take advantage of Atlantic Global OnDemands adavanced resource scheduling capabilities, they simply need a way to easily allocate the same resource to multiple tasks in a project plan.  Based on this feedback we have provided the option to map resources to role based assignments on the project plan quick edit view.  This means that if your project templates include the role required to perform a task, with the click of a button you can easily replace that role with a physical resource on the whole or part of the project.
